Investigation
Vishvas News started the investigation using the Google reverse image tool. We searched the picture viral in the name of Varanasi with the help of the reverse image tool. We found a video on YouTube. In the 1:25 minute of the video uploaded on a channel named Wise Wanderer, we saw the same idols, the photo of which is going viral in the name of Banaras. According to the video, the idol is in Pattaya, Thailand. Its name is ‘Sanctuary of Truth’. It is a museum.
During the investigation, we also found an article on Bangkok.com. In the article, it has been mentioned that the museum has been created by a local business tycoon. More information about this can be read here.
Vishvas News contacted Dainik Jagran’s office in Varanasi. Photo Journalist Bhairav Jaiswal of Dainik Jagran shared some photos of Kashiraj Kali Temple based in Varanasi. In these pictures, we could not find even one such sculpture, as seen in the viral picture.
Rahul Pathak of the priest family of Kashiraj Kali temple was also contacted. He told that this temple was built by the King of Kashi. The stone-built Kashiraj Kali temple is over hundred years old. The viral picture is not from this temple.
We scanned the profile of the Facebook user Sonu Pandey who shared the viral photo. We found that the user has 1678 friends.
