New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video going viral on social media shows many buildings engulfed in fire. Users are sharing the video, claiming that it depicts a recent attack by Hezbollah on the Israeli military factory.

Vishvas News, in its investigation, found the claim to be misleading. The video features a factory fire in Hebron, Palestine in February 2024. However, recent reports confirm Hezbollah has targeted an Israeli Army base.

What is in the viral post?

A Facebook user shared the viral post, with the caption, “Allahu Akbar. Tel Aviv. Hezbollah destroyed the arms industry with rockets targetting an Israeli military factory. #$% Israel, #$% America.”

Investigation

To begin our investigation, we first searched the viral picture on Google Lens. This search led us to a photo uploaded on 28 February 2024 on the verified X handle SilentlySirs.

Continuing our investigation, we used a time tool to locate additional postings of the image and found it uploaded on February 27 2024 by a Facebook page named ‘Hebron Daily News’. According to the information given here, this image shows a fire at the Royal Factory in Hebron, Palestine.

We also came across a video from the same event on another Facebook page. It confirmed that there was a fire in a plastic factory in Hebron, Palestinian, uploaded on February 27 2024.

The picture was also found on the verified Facebook handle of Palestinian news website ‘Al-Fajr TV’ in February 2024. The post confirmed that the incident involved a fire at a factory in Hebron.

A related news on the website of Al-Fajr TV stated, “A massive fire broke out at the Royal Plastic Industries factory in Hebron. Dozens of fire engines from the Civil Defense and Hebron Municipality Fire Department are trying to control it.” However, there was no information provided on the cause of the fire.

According to the AP News on October 14, 2024, Hezbollah attacked the Israeli Army base using a drone. The full news can be accessed here.

To verify the claim in the viral post, we contacted JP Ranjan, a senior journalist covering international affairs with Dainik Jagran, who confirmed that Hezbollah has attacked an Israeli military base amidst the ongoing war.

Lastly, we reviewed the Facebook profile of the user sharing misleading posts showed that the user is based in Pakistan.
