New Delhi (Vishvas News). Soon after the results of the US presidential race, a video clip of president-elect Donald Trump was shared on social media, in which he can be heard saying that he is a big fan of Hindus and India. The post claims that the clip is from Trump’s 2024 victory speech.
Vishvas News in its investigation found this claim to be false. The viral clip of Trump praising the Hindu community is from his 2016 election campaign, and the post is misleading.
What is going viral?
Many users have also shared the clip on the Vishvas News tipline number +91 9599299372, where he can be seen praising India and the Hindu community.
Many other users on different social media platforms have shared this video clip with the same misleading claim.
Investigation
In the 48-second clip, Donald Trump can be heard saying, “I am a big fan of Hindu and I am a big fan of India. Let me start by stating right up front that if I’m elected president, the Indian and Hindu community will have a true friend in the White House that I can guarantee you that I can…. Generations of Indians and Hindu Americans have strengthened our country and strengthened it like few people could ever even believe your values of hard work, education and enterprise have truly enriched our nation. But as we all know, we can’t have prosperity without security and that is why we appreciate the great friend India has been the United States in the fight against radical Islamic terrorism. (sic)”
We began our investigation with a keyword search and found a video clip uploaded on the official Facebook page of news agency ANI on October 16, 2016, where Trump can be seen making these statements.
According to the information available, this speech of Trump dates back to the 2016 US election campaign. Notably, he won that election and remained US president till 2020. As reported by the New York Times, Trump had secured 304 seats, compared to Hillary Clinton’s 227.
His speech is also referenced in other news reports. According to a report in The Indian Express, Donald Trump was the chief guest at a fundraiser campaign organised by the Hindu Republican Coalition in New Jersey, where he praised India and the Hindu community, declaring himself to be a big fan of Hindus.

We contacted Madhurendra Kumar, a TV journalist who covers international affairs for News Nation. Kumar confirmed, “This video clip of Trump praising the Hindu community is not from his first speech following the 2024 election results but is an old clip from his 2016 election campaign.”
