We contacted ‘thegnomonworkshop’ via email to confirm the viral video. Daniel Hale replied to our email and said, “We cannot say for sure how the video was created. Someone may have copied Miguel Perez Cenet from our library and workshop or made changes to the video or used AI, but it is clear that this video is taken from the original CGI video.”

We contacted our partner DAU (an MCA initiative) regarding the video. They checked the video on TrueMedia Deepfake Detector, which said that the video was not AI-generated. Now it was time to do social scanning of the Facebook user who shared the fake post. We found that the user is from Kashmir.
