Fact-Check: Viral video Of TTE misbehaving with passenger is from Delhi-Patna train, not Tamil Nadu

Vishvas News investigation found that the video of TTE misbehaving with passengers has nothing to do with Tamil Nadu. This incident took place on the Sampoorna Kranti Express going from New Delhi to Patna before Holi.

New Delhi (Vishvas News): A video is going viral on the internet in which a Ticket Checker (TTE – Travelling Ticket Examiner) is seen misbehaving with a passenger travelling on the train. The video is being shared with a claim that the passengers are migrant labourers from Bihar who are leaving Tamil Nadu. Vishvas News team fact-checked the viral claim and found the claim to be misleading. In our investigation, it was found that the video is of Sampoorna Kranti Express travelling from New Delhi to Patna in Bihar. It is now being shared with a misleading claim linking it with Tamil Nadu. The incident shown in the video took place in Danapur, Bihar. The YouTuber who shot the video also confirmed this on camera.  

Claim:

Facebook page Gorakhpuria (archive link) uploaded a 26-second video clip on March 9 and wrote, “This is how some are giving TT tickets to Biharis fleeing Tamil Nadu. Is such behavior by TT right and he is not even wearing his uniform.”

A Twitter user named Sintu Tiwari uploaded the video clip on March 8 with the claim, “This is how some are giving TT tickets to Biharis fleeing Tamil Nadu. Is such behavior by TT right and he is not even wearing his uniform.”

Investigation:

Vishvas News first watched the viral video carefully. In the video, a man can be heard referring to the Sampoorna Kranti Superfast train. We then scanned the comments section of the post. In one of the comments, the railway department tagged the official Twitter handle of the DRM of the Danapur division on March 9 and said that the concerned authorities are being informed about the matter. Further, in the comments, many people highlighted that this train runs between New Delhi and Patna and also termed the viral claim fake.

During the search, a Twitter handle named ‘Run On Track’ retweeted the Twitter post related to the viral video on March 13, and wrote, “I have recorded this video. This is the video of Sampoorna Kranti Express coming from Delhi to Patna. This has nothing to do with Tamil Nadu State. All the people were going from Delhi to Bihar to celebrate Holi.”

Taking the investigation forward, we searched the ‘Run on Track’ channel on YouTube. The full video was uploaded on this channel on March 3, 2023. In the video, the YouTuber briefed about the condition of the general bogie of the Sampoorna Kranti Express train going from New Delhi to Patna.

Vishvas News contacted Ganesh, moderator of the YouTube channel ‘Run On Track’. He said, “The viral clip is an incomplete part of the original video. It has nothing to do with Tamil Nadu. This is the video of Sampoorna Kranti Superfast Train. Before Holi, there was a lot of crowd in this train going from Delhi to Patna. The TTE incident took place in Danapur, Bihar.”

In the last phase of the investigation, social scanning of the Facebook page ‘Gorakhpuria’ was done. It was learned that 3.87 lakh people follow this page. Many types of viral content are present on this page operated from Gorakhpur.

Conclusion: Vishvas News investigation found that the video of TTE misbehaving with passengers has nothing to do with Tamil Nadu. This incident took place on the Sampoorna Kranti Express going from New Delhi to Patna before Holi.
