Fact Check: Viral tweet in the name of Naseeruddin Shah is fake, he doesn’t have any social media account

New Delhi (Vishvas News): Screenshot of a tweet from an alleged Twitter account of the film actor Naseeruddin Shah is going viral on social media. According to the viral post, Naseeruddin Shah has targeted the Modi government at the Center by making political remarks in his tweet. In the Vishvas News investigation, it was found that there is no account of Naseeruddin Shah on any social media platform. The viral post is falsely attributed to the actor.

Claim

Facebook user Belal Qamar Khan shared screenshots of Naseeruddin Shah’s purported tweet criticizing the central government on the pretext of former US President Donald Trump’s visit to India.

Investigation

We started our investigation by searching for the alleged Twitter account of Naseeruddin Shah, whose screenshots are going viral. We did not find any account on Twitter with this name, but we did see many other accounts in the name of Naseeruddin Shah. On these similar accounts, there many such tweets could be seen, through which the central government has been criticized. We also found an account by the actor’s name and has 90,000 followers.

Vishvas News spoke to Naseeruddin Shah’s manager, Jairaj Patil, to know the truth behind the viral Twitter accounts. Jairaj Patil told that Naseeruddin Shah is not present on any social media platform. He does not have any official account on any social media and all such accounts are fake.

He also told us that Naseeruddin Shah has complained several times to the cyber cell of Mumbai Police regarding these fake social media accounts created in his name, but the problem still persists.

We also found a tweet from the official Twitter account of actor Anupam Kher, who has worked with Naseeruddin Shah in films. In the tweet, he mentioned: “10mins into conversation & Naseer tells me all his accounts on Facebook & Twitter are fake. So r some of d statements attributed to him.:)”

When we scanned the Facebook profile of user Belal Qamar Khan, who shared the screenshots of Naseeruddin Shah’s fake tweet on Facebook, we found that the user is a resident of Gyanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Conclusion

In the Vishvas News investigation, it was found that there is no account of Naseeruddin Shah on any social media platform. The viral post is falsely attributed to the actor.
