Investigation

Vishvas News started its investigation using Google reverse image search tool. We found the original image on a Facebook page named Sadhvi Saraswati. There were many such pictures in which Sadhvi can be seen holding a sword.

As stated in her social media account, she lives in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh. Thousands of people follow her page.

Vishvas News did a Google search using the viral post’s claim as a keyword. We found a tweet made from the Twitter handle of Prayagraj Police on August 19, 2020, refuting the viral claim. Such claims had gone viral earlier as well. It was clearly written by the police that the news going viral on social media is completely untrue and misleading.

Vishvas News contacted Rajendra Yadav, crime reporter of Dainik Jagran, Prayagraj to investigate further. He said that the viral post is fake and had gone viral earlier as well. Prayagraj SP Crime Ashutosh Mishra also denied the viral post.

We also came to know that last year i.e. in August 2020, in Taktaiya village of Karchana police station area of Prayagraj district, a family had killed two real brothers in a dispute over tying animals on the road. Later the police arrested all the three accused. There was no rape angle in the news. Jagran.com report dated August 8, 2020, can be read by clicking here.

We scanned the profile of the Facebook user Shiv Charan Maurya who shared the fake post. We found that the user is a resident of Varanasi in UP. He has more than 400 friends.
