New Delhi Vishvas News – After the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, a picture is going viral on social media, in which a large crowd can be seen. Now some users are sharing this picture as recent. It is being claimed that this is a photo of the demonstration after the arrest of CM Arvind Kejriwal.

Vishvas News investigation found this claim to be false. In our investigation, we found that the viral picture is not of the protest after the arrest of CM Arvind Kejriwal, but of the Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra. The picture is now being shared with misleading claims.

What’s Going Viral?

Facebook user ‘Ganesh Yadav Gaya Bihar‘ shared the viral picture and wrote, “This picture shows that the end of the dictator is certain. People are on the streets against the arrest of Kejriwal in Chennai.” Many other users have shared this picture with similar claims.

Investigation:

We used the Google Reverse Image search to examine the viral picture. Our search led us to an Instagram account named sri_mandir, where the picture was shared on June 20, 2023, alongside a description identifying it as the Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra.

Further investigation revealed related news on the Times Content website. An article titled “Annual Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri: Crowd of devotees during the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath” accompanied the photo, dated June 20, 2023. Several other images of the Rath Yatra were also featured in the published article.

This particular picture had previously circulated on social media, linked to the Ayodhya Ram temple. Vishvas News had conducted an investigation at that time, reaching out to Rashmi Ranjan Parida, editor of Odisha’s local news portal Odisha Diary, who clarified, “This picture is of Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra and has no connection with the current situation.”

Vishvas News examined the user who shared the viral picture. The profile indicates that the user is followed by 4,000 people and identifies as a resident of Gaya, Bihar.

Conclusion: In its investigation, Vishvas News determined that the viral image depicting a crowd on social media is actually from the Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra and is not related to the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The photo is being circulated with misleading claims.
