Fact Check: Viral Picture Of Elvish Yadav With Virat Kohli Is Edited, Shared With Misleading Claim

New Delhi Vishvas News – Days after YouTuber Elvish Yadav emerged Bigg Boss OTT Season 2 winner, a slew of misleading claims related to him are being circulated across social media platforms. Among these, a post depicting Elvish Yadav alongside cricketer Virat Kohli has gained significant traction. The edited image shows them holding the trophy from Bigg Boss OTT Season 2. Along with the image, it has been claimed that Yadav met Kohli after his Bigg Boss OTT victory.

In the course of its investigation, Vishvas News found that the viral post was false. The image of Virat Kohli and Elvish Yadav circulating on social media is, in fact, a product of digital manipulation and bears no factual basis.

What Is Going Viral?

Facebook user ‘Bablu Babu Yadav’ shared the viral post on August 23, 2023, with the caption, “Elvish Yadav met Virat Kohli after winning Bigg Boss…SYSTUMM jisko bhi rehna system ke liye rehna padega!!”

Investigation

To check the veracity of the claim, Vishvas News first did a Google search using relevant keywords. No credible news report emerged to substantiate the claim that Virat Kohli and Elvish Yadav had met.

Vishvas News next examined Virat Kohli’s official social media accounts. Given Kohli’s active social media engagement, it stands to reason that he would have shared any noteworthy encounter with Elvish Yadav. But no posts about this purported meeting were found on his accounts.

Further, a thorough scrutiny of Elvish Yadav’s social media handles ensued. Considering Yadav’s status as a prominent social media influencer, the likelihood of him posting about such an event appeared high. Yet, no posts corroborating the claimed meeting were found on his platforms.

Vishvas News next deployed Google Lens to explore images of Elvish Yadav alongside the trophy. We found several images similar to the viral photo. We found the same picture of Elvish with digital creator, producer and writer Chitransh Jain and YouTuber Ajay Ghudaiya aka Ajju 0008. This image has been edited to include a picture of Virat Kohli. However, we could not find any images of Virat Kohli and Elvish Yadav together. Even in the comment section of the viral post, many people have called the viral picture edited.

We spoke to Dainik Jagran’s sports editor Abhishek Tripathi about this. He has described the picture as edited and denied any knowledge of such a meeting.

Finally, we investigated the user who shared the viral edited photo. It was determined that the user hailed from Imamganj, Bihar, having maintained an active presence on Facebook since April 2022.
