Fake job advert is viral in the name of World Health Organization. WHO advises people to “beware of criminals” pretending to represent the organisation.
New Delhi (Vishvas News): A message doing rounds on social media claims that World Health Organization (WHO) is offering work from home jobs to people. It further states that this job doesn’t require experience, you only need to work for 2-3 hours and earn 5$ to 100$. Vishvas News investigated and found that the viral post is fake.
A social media post reads: “JOB AT WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION, Help us fight CORONAVIRUS by working from home – No experience required SMS sending JOB, *Work 2-3 hours daily on mobile*, *and earn $5-$100 daily* Click Here And Apply Now. Vacancy till 31st July, 2020.” The post also has a link. The archived version of the post can be checked here.
Vishvas News investigated by searching the viral job advert on the official website of World Health Organization (WHO). There was no such job posting.
The social media handles of WHO also didn’t have any such job posting.
We further checked by clicking on the link which was mentioned as the application process.
The application process prompted to enter name and surname. It further displayed the message: “Share this news with your friends so they can also get this job offer. You need to share with at least 14 WhatsApp friends or groups to get this job offer.”
We checked the details of the website using Whois tool. We found that the website was created on February 19, 2019.
We contacted WHO and the spokesperson of organization stated: “This is a spam. WHO has not made any such advertisement.”
On the Facebook page of WHO Uganda we found a message in which WHO has warned that the viral message is fake.
WHO has also warned people on its official website to beware of criminals pretending to represent the World Health Organization (WHO).
Vishvas News scanned the profile of the page which posted the fake message. We found that the page has 522 followers.
Conclusion: Fake job advert is viral in the name of World Health Organization. WHO advises people to “beware of criminals” pretending to represent the organisation.
