Fact Check: Viral Claim About PM Modi Patting UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s Back At Parliamentary Party Meet Is Misleading

New Delhi (Vishvas News). After the National Democratic Alliance won the Lok Sabha Election 2024 and formed the government at the Centre, a video clip of News 24 is going viral on social media. The clip is being shared with the claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi ignored Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the NDA parliamentary party meeting in Parliament House (Samvidhan Sadan).
Vishvas News investigated and found that the viral claim circulating on social media was misleading. The full video of the NDA parliamentary party meeting shows PM Modi also patting CM Yogi’s back. A misleading claim is being made by sharing an incomplete video of the event.
What Is Going Viral
On June 9, 2024, Facebook user AAditya Gupta (archive link) posted the video and commented, “Modi ji did not even think it necessary to look at the Chief Minister of the country’s largest state, Yogi ji. Yogi stood with folded hands, such extreme arrogance.”
Investigation
To investigate the viral claim, we initially searched for the video news. The viral video was uploaded on News 24’s YouTube channel on June 7, 2024, (archive link) with the title, ‘Did Narendra Modi ignore Yogi Adityanath in Parliament? Is Modi angry with the defeat in UP? News 24’.
Subsequently, we found another video of this program on DD News’ YouTube channel. It was also uploaded on June 7, 2024. In this video, at the 1:50 minute mark, it is evident that when CM Yogi goes to welcome PM Modi, he pats his back.
The video showing PM Modi patting CM Yogi’s back can also be seen on Zee Bihar Jharkhand and TIMES NOW Navbharat’s YouTube channels.
According to the news published on Dainik Jagran’s website on June 7, 2024, all the leaders congratulated the PM in the NDA parliamentary party meeting. When the UP CM congratulated Narendra Modi, he patted Yogi’s back, a report citing ANI mentioned.
UP BJP spokesperson Avnish Tyagi also refuted the viral claim and said that the PM had patted Chief Minister Yogi’s back.
We scanned the Facebook profile of the user who shared the misleading claim. The user, residing in Badaun, is influenced by a political party.
Conclusion: Following the Lok Sabha elections, the NDA parliamentary party meeting was held in Parliament House, where PM Modi patted UP CM Yogi’s back. A misleading claim is being made by sharing an incomplete video of the event.
