Fact Check: Video of Swami Yogananda being shared in the name of Swami Vivekananda; viral claim false

New Delhi (Vishvas News): An 11-second video clip is going viral on various social media platforms. In the video, a man can be seen walking along with some people on the roadside. Some users on social media are making this video viral as a rare video of Swami Vivekananda. In the investigation of Vishvas News, the claim proved to be wrong. The man in the video is Swami Yogananda, and not Swami Vivekananda.

Facebook user Madhusudhan Bojja posted a video clip on April 13 and wrote: Rare video of Swami Vivekananda.
Other users are also sharing the viral video considering it to be of Swami Vivekananda. View the archived version of the post here.
Investigation:
Vishvas News went through the viral video carefully. After watching this video, it was understood that the person seen in it is not Swami Vivekananda. In the video clip, we found mirc@scedu written. Based on this, we searched by creating keywords in Google Open Search, which led to the website of the University of South Carolina.
We found many rare videos, photographs and documents in the online collection here. This is where we also found the original video. This 48-second video was ascribed to Swami Yogananda. In this video, we also found the viral clip being shared in the name of Swami Vivekananda. The investigation so far has established that the person seen in the original video is Swami Yogananda. It was told in the video that Swamiji was walking on the streets of New York.
Vishvas News contacted Ramakrishna Paramhansa Math in West Bengal to further investigate. They confirmed that the person seen in the viral video is not Swami Vivekananda, but Swami Yogananda Paramahansa.
Finally, Facebook user Madhusudhan Bojja was investigated. He made the clip viral in the name of Swami Vivekananda. The user has more than 4,000 Facebook friends. This account was created in November 2008. The user is a resident of Hyderabad.
Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation found the viral post to be misleading. Swami Yogananda’s video is being shared virally in the name of Swami Vivekananda.
