Fact Check: This is a photograph, not a painting

New Delhi (Vishvas News) – A picture is going viral on social media in which a woman can be seen sitting wearing a saree. It is being claimed with the post that this is not a photo taken by a camera, but a painting made by a painter. Vishvas News found in its investigation that this claim is not true. This is actually a photo, not a painting.

What’s in a viral post?

Facebook page I7Info shared this post, with the caption “This is not a Photograph but a Painting: This is the Talent of Indian Painting.” The post description read “Respect For Artist”

Investigation

To start our investigation, we searched this picture on Google reverse image. We found this picture uploaded on the Instagram account of a Marathi actress named Snehlata Vasaikar on October 13, 2018. She gave the photo credit to a photographer named Prithviraj_Babar.

We searched for Prithviraj Babar with the help of keyword and found his Instagram account. Upon searching, we found this picture uploaded on Prithviraj Babar’s Instagram account on 13 October 2018.

We contacted Prithviraj Babar about this. Talking to us, he confirmed that the viral claim is fake and in fact, it is a picture that he took.

A social scan of I7Info, a page that shared this fake post, found that the page has 210,835 followers.

Conclusion: We found in our investigation that this claim is false. The viral picture is actually a photo, not a painting.
