Vishvas News found in its investigation that the original image features Hollywood actor Sean Connery, not the late filmmaker Satyajit Ray, as falsely portrayed in the viral post. The viral image is edited.
New Delhi (Vishvas News): A viral image circulating on social media shows the renowned late filmmaker Satyajit Ray posing with an Aston Martin car. The image is being widely shared with claims that it was taken in 1953 and features Satyajit Ray. However, Vishvas News investigated this claim and found that the image was edited. Contrary to the claims, the original image does not showcase Satyajit Ray. The man in the real photo was Hollywood actor Sean Connery.
Facebook user Somen Halder posted the viral image with the caption, “Ray in 1953! No bond can match his charisma.”

To investigate the viral image, Vishvas News used the Google reverse image search tool. We found the same image on Getty Images. However, upon close examination, it was evident that the man featured in the image was not Satyajit Ray; it was the renowned Hollywood actor Sean Connery. The accompanying description read, “1964: Actor Sean Connery poses as James Bond next to his Aston Martin DB5 in a scene from the United Artists release ‘Goldfinger’ in 1964. Upon further probing, we found the same photograph of Sean Connery in a photo gallery on theguardian.com. The photo caption read, “Connery with Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 in Goldfinger, 1964.”
