Investigation

Vishvas News began investigating the viral claim usingd Google Open Search Tool but found no recent news that the Indian Army has received 2500 bulletproof Scorpios. Taking the investigation further, we conducted a search using Google Lens on the picture from the viral post. The image appeared in a news article published on the Republic Channel’s English website on October 30, 2023. The article reported that Jammu and Kashmir Police had introduced hi-tech vehicles ‘Rakshak’ and ‘Shaurya’ into its fleet. You can read the full news here.

Vishvas News furthered the investigation by scanned the official Facebook page of the Media Center of J&K Police. There we found a post dated October 30, 2023, stating that the DGP dedicated 160 vehicles to the JK Police during a flag-off ceremony.

When Vishvas News scanned the viral picture, we noticed that it stated “Jammu and Kashmir Police” and “Dial 112”. This indicated that the picture pertains to the police, not the Indian Army.

For further investigation, we reached out to an Indian Army spokesperson, who confirmed that the viral picture does not belong to the Indian Army and the viral claim is fake.

Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the viral post is misleading. The picture depicts vehicles added to the J&K Police fleet last year and is being misrepresented with a misleading claim about the Indian army.
