New Delhi (Vishvas News): A picture of the Sri Lankan flag displayed on the Burj Khalifa is being widely shared on social media. It is being claimed Burj Khalifa was lit up with the Sri Lankan flag after its cricket team won the Asia Cup.
Vishvas News in its investigation found that the claim to be misleading, viral picture is from the year 2019. In the year 2019, there were six bomb blasts in Sri Lanka. After that the Sri Lankan flag was displayed on the Burj Khalifa to pay tributes.
Facebook user Chamara Prasad Lk shared the viral picture and wrote, “Burj Khalifa after Sri Lanka’s victory in the Asia Cup.”

We searched the photo through Google reverse image. We found the exact photo uploaded on the official Twitter account of Burj Khalifa. The picture was shared on 25 April 2019. According to the caption, the Sri lankan flag was lit up to support Sri Lanka and it was written that this world is made of tolerance and each other’s presence.
Taking the investigation further, we started searching with several keywords. We found a report related to the claim on The Hindu’s website. It was published on 26 April 2019. According to the report,Nine suicide bombers, believed to be the members of a local Islamist extremist group National Tawheed Jamath (NTJ), carried out a series of devastating blasts that tore through three churches, two of them Catholic, and three luxury hotels packed with Easter worshippers on Sunday, killing at 253 people and wounding more than 500 others.

At the end of the investigation, Vishvas News did a social scanning of the fake post user Chamara Prasad Lk. According to the information given on the profile, the user is a resident of Sri Lanka.
