New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video is going viral on social media, featuring Salman Khan’s bodyguard Shera outside the jail along with several other people. Some people are sharing this video claiming that Salman Khan visited the jail to meet Lawrence Bishnoi. Many users are sharing this claim believing it to be true.
Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that this video of Salman Khan is from 2018 when Salman Khan was released from Jodhpur Central Jail after getting bail in the blackbuck poaching case. Some people are sharing this video with a false claim that it is recent. The video has no connection with the recent times.
What is going viral?
On November 10, 2024 Facebook user Micky Chaurasia (Archive) shared the viral video (archive link) with the caption, “Salman Khan has reached the jail to meet Lawrence Vishnoi and his bodyguard Shera is looking back again and again to see if anyone has seen Bhai…???”
Similarly, another user Biswaranjan Roy also shared the video with the caption, “Salman Khan went to jail to apologise to Lawrence Bishnoi…”

Investigation
Since the viral video features logo of Live Hindustan, we first searched the Live Hindustan YouTube channel and found a longer version of the same video uploaded on April 7, 2018. According to the information provided there, the video dates back to the time when Jodhpur District and Sessions Court granted bail to Salman Khan in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.
In our investigation, we found a related report on the official YouTube channel of Sansad TV, uploaded on April 7, 2018. According to the information given, “Salman Khan came out of jail after spending two nights in Jodhpur jail. Salman was convicted in the blackbuck hunting case on April 5, 2018, and was granted bail on April 7, 2018.”
The details regarding the viral video can be read in a report by Dainik Jagran, published on April 8, 2018, which stated that “Salman Khan was released from Jodhpur Central Jail after getting bail in a case related to the famous blackbuck poaching case in Rajasthan. Salman reached his home in Mumbai, but will not be able to go out of the country without a court order.”

To verify the authenticity of the video, we shared it with Jodhpur-based independent journalist Ranjan Dave, who confirmed that the viral video is from Jodhpur Central Jail when Salman Khan was jailed for the first time in the blackbuck hunting case.
Lawrence Bishnoi is currently in Sabarmati Jail, Gujarat and the viral video of Salman Khan is from Jodhpur Jail and people are sharing the video with false claims.
Finally, we scanned the Facebook account of the user who shared the video with the false claim. The user has described himself as a resident of Bihar on his profile.
