Vishvas News investigated the viral claim and found it to be misleading. PM Modi took blessings from both Swami Sadanand Saraswati and Swami Avimukteshwarananda at Anant Ambani’s wedding.
What is Going Viral?
On July 18, a Facebook page ‘Sanatan Dharm’ (Archive) posted a video where Prime Minister Modi is seen touching the feet of one of two present Shankaracharyas at Ambani’s event, which was captioned as “Modi ji touched feet of one out of two Shankaracharya ji present in Ambani function and ignored the other Shankaracharya ji who opposed Ram Temple and refused to come for its inauguration.
Investigation
To verify the viral claim, we used a Google keyword search. Several news websites’ reported that PM Modi took blessings from both Shankaracharyas at Anant Ambani’s wedding.
A video from a different angle, posted on July 13 by an X handle ‘Baliyan,’ clearly shows PM Modi first taking blessings from Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda. Following this, PM took blessings from Shankaracharya Swami Sadanand Saraswati.
Multiple videos from the event confirm that PM Modi first sought blessings from Swami Avimukteshwarananda and then from Swami Sadanand Saraswati.
Vishvas News reached out to Sanjay Pandey, media in-charge of Shri Vidya Math, Varanasi who confirmed that “Prime Minister Narendra Modi did take blessings of Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda of Jyotirmath by touching his feet during the wedding ceremony of Anant Ambani. The claim made in the viral post is completely baseless and has been made to tarnish the image of Shankaracharya.”
Upon reviewing the Facebook page ‘Sanatan Dharm’ we discovered it has over 75000 followers.
Conclusion: In its investigation, Vishvas News discovered that the viral claim is fake. At Anant Ambani’s wedding, PM Modi sought blessings from both Shankaracharyas; Swami Avimukteshwarananda of Jyotirmath and Swami Sadanand Saraswati of Dwarka Peeth.
