Fact Check: PM Modi did not sing Ram Bhajan in this viral post; it’s by a popular hymn singer

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not sung a devotional song (Ram Bhajan) as being shared in a viral post. Vishvas News found that the audio is taken from a devotional song by ‘Pujya Prembhushanji Maharaj’. The claim made in the post is fake.

New Delhi (Vishvas News): If some unverified viral posts on social media are to be believed, then Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sung a devotional song (Ram Bhajan) because he “knows and understands religious faith and culture”. However, when Vishvas News checked the veracity of this viral content, we found that the audio was taken from a devotional song sung by ‘Pujya Prembhushanji Maharaj’. The claim that PM Modi is singing the bhajan in these posts is fake.

Claim:

Facebook page ‘Goel Sir Community’ (archive link) shared a post that had a still image of Lord Ram and the devotional song’s audio in the background. The post said: “You will be surprised if you come to know who is singing this Ram Bhajan! It is none other than the Prime Minister of our country, Hon’ble Shri Narendra Modi ji. Blessed is the country where the Prime Minister is the one who knows and understands such religious faith and culture….It is a matter of great pride. Singing like a professional singer..”

Identical claims were shared by many other users on Facebook and Twitter.

Investigation:

Vishvas News first checked the image by using the InVid tool. After doing a video analysis and inspecting the keyframes, we found this link on YouTube. It took us to this YouTube link and page of ‘Pujya Prembhushanji Maharaj’, that has more than 5 lakh subscribers and nearly 10,000 videos uploaded on this YouTube channel.

At 1 minute 23 seconds in the video, we could see many other social media accounts, including his Facebook and Instagram page, with his email and further contact details.

Vishvas News contacted him on these coordinates. His management team member Shivam Singh confirmed that the audio in the viral video is of ‘Pujya Prembhushanji Maharaj’ and not of PM Modi. “We have a copyright on that video and it is uploaded on our YouTube page also,” he said.

Previously, in May 2022, Vishvas News debunked similar fake information that went viral on social media.

The Facebook page ‘Goel Sir Classes’ that shared the viral post shows its location as Ghaziabad and the page has 396 followers on the social networking site.

Conclusion: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not sung a devotional song (Ram Bhajan) as being shared in a viral post. Vishvas News found that the audio is taken from a devotional song by ‘Pujya Prembhushanji Maharaj’. The claim made in the post is fake.
