New Delhi, Vishvas News – Four phases of voting have occurred in the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Meanwhile, a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going viral on social media, showing him serving langar in a Gurdwara. Some users are sharing this image and targeting PM Modi, alleging that he is serving people sitting in the queue with an empty bucket.
Vishvas News in its investigation found that the picture is from Takht Sri Patna Sahib Gurdwara. Upon reviewing the video of the PM’s visit, it is evident that his bucket was not empty. While serving langar there, he served food to the people sitting in the queue. Therefore, the viral claim on social media is false.

While sharing the picture (archive link) on May 14, 2024, X user ‘saliltripathi (that banaye family, we like Sunday)’ wrote, “Pictures don’t lie. Bucket? Empty. Serving spoon? Empty. Plate? Empty. The recipient? Thankful. Server? Self-satisfied and confident. Public? Applause. Who else? and where?”
Facebook user Kiran Patil (archive link) also made a similar claim while sharing this picture.
Investigation:
To verify the authenticity of the viral claim, we searched the viral picture using Google Lens. The viral picture is featured in the photo gallery published on the Times of India’s website on May 13. According to the source, the picture is from Patna Sahib Gurudwara, where PM Modi visited. During his visit, he prayed and served food to the people sitting in the queue. Wearing a turban, PM Modi himself served langar from a bucket in the Gurudwara.

The video of this visit has been uploaded on PM Modi’s official YouTube channel. This visit was live streamed on the YouTube channel on May 13, 2024, and the viral picture frame can be observed at the 5-minute mark. In the video, PM Modi can be seen taking out prasad from the bucket and serving it to the people sitting in the queue.
The video of this visit (archive link) is also available on ANI’s X handle. In it, PM Modi can be seen serving food to the people sitting in the queue.
As per the news published in the Patna edition of Dainik Jagran on May 14,2024, it is reported that PM Modi also assisted in making dal and kheer in the langar hall of Takht Shri Hari Mandir Patna Sahib, Bihar. Later, he served kheer to the people from a bucket.
For more information in this matter, we reached out to Ashwini Kumar Singh, editorial in-charge of Dainik Jagran, Patna. He verified that the viral claim on social media is fake and PM Modi’s bucket was not empty.
We also scanned the profile of the X user who shared the picture with the false claim and we found that the user is influenced by a particular ideology and he has more than 1.10 lakh followers.
