New Delhi (Vishvas News): A photo going viral on social media shows many people on the street. The post is being shared with the claim that it is the scene of a recent protest in Paris against coronavirus restrictions.

Vishvas News investigated and found the claim to be fake. The photo shows people celebrating 2018 FIFA World Cup victory of France.

Claim

The claim alongside the photo showing hundreds of people reads, “Somebody posted this REVOLUTION IMAGE Last Night! FB DELETED IT .. Here is is AGAIN! FRANCE is STANDING UP !! NO MORE BANKSTERS CONTROL! NO More Fake Covid Controls .. NO MORE Money / Financial Controls .. LIBERTY, EQUALITY, FRATERNITY !!! ”

Investigation

We searched the photo using Google Reverse Image tool. We found the exact same picture on afpforum.com. According to the website, this picture was taken from above the Arc of Triumph (Arc de Triumph) on July 15, 2018 where people could be holding torches in their hands.” The picture was taken when France won the 2018 Football World Cup. “

We found this picture in other news reports as well. According to the news reports, the picture is showing people celebrating after the 2018 World Cup.

We contacted AFP’s photo journalist Ludovic Marine on Twitter for confirmation. He said, “I took this picture in 2018. People seen in the photo were celebrating France’s victory in the FIFA World Cup. “

We further searched and found that France has postponed the opening of cultural sites due to Coronavirus and has also imposed night curfew. Many people are against it. We scanned the profile of the Facebook user Skupina Kazenska Ovadba, who shared the viral post. We found the user is based out of France and has 1,674 followers on Facebook.
