Fact Check: Owaisi’s claim of Rajasthan CM not meeting Bhiwani victims’ family is false

New Delhi (Vishvas News): AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s tweet has gone viral on social media with the claim that Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot did not meet the families of Muslim men Junaid and Nasir, who were killed in Haryana’s Bhiwani.

Vishvas News in its investigation found this claim to be misleading. Ashok Gehlot had met the family members of Junaid and Nasir. During this meeting, the family members of the victim had demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter.

Claim:

Sharing the viral post (archive link), social media user ‘Rukhsar Bano’ wrote, “Owaisi Sahab should make me the admin for such funny posts.”

Several other users have shared this post with similar claims.

Investigation:

All the viral posts have a screenshot of Asaduddin Owaisi’s tweet. In the search, we found this tweet on Owaisi’s verified Twitter handle. The post was shared on February 21.

Owaisi also shared this from his Facebook profile.

Vishvas News found many reports in which Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s meeting with the family members of Junaid and Nasir has been mentioned.

According to a February 19 report by Zee News, Rajasthan Minister Zahida Khan, along with the family members, met CM Ashok Gehlot in connection with the abduction and burning alive of the two Muslim youths from Bharatpur. During this meet, the family members demanded the chief minister to conduct a CBI inquiry into the matter.

According to this report, “On Saturday, a delegation of about 21 people met the state’s CM Ashok Gehlot in this matter.”

The pictures of this meeting have also been shared from the official Twitter profile of Ashok Gehlot on February 21, 2023.

It has been told in this tweet that a few days ago, Gehlot had met the families, and that justice will be ensured.

Vishvas News contacted Rajasthan Chief Minister Special Service Officer Lokesh Sharma for additional confirmation. Sharma said that the family members of Junaid and Nasir, along with others, had met Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on February 18.

The user who shared the viral post with the misleading claim is followed by over 30,000 people on Facebook.
