Fact Check: Old news of Shahrukh Khan being detained at Los Angeles airport is being shared as recent

New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video is going viral on various social media platforms in which Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan is reported to be detained at the Los Angeles airport. By sharing this video now, an attempt is being made to claim that this news is recent. Vishvas News in its investigation found that this claim is misleading. Actually this video is from 2016. There is no news of Shahrukh Khan being detained at any US airport recently.
What is going viral
Facebook user Wsm.Tv shared the viral post on April 24. The caption accompanying the video read, “Why was Shahrukh Khan stopped at the US airport.”
Investigation
News24’s logo can be clearly seen in the viral video. Vishvas News used Google reverse image tool along with keywords to find out the veracity of the viral post. We found this video uploaded on the verified YouTube channel of News24 on August 12, 2016. The accompanying description read “US Customs Apologise for Detaining Shah Rukh Khan at the Airport.”
We also found a news of Shahrukh Khan being stopped at Los Angeles airport in 2016 on Jagran.com.
Shahrukh Khan had also tweeted about this incident.
Later, the US Ambassador to India and the US State Department also apologized for the incident.
On doing a news search, we came to know that apart from 2016, Shah Rukh Khan was stopped at US airports in 2009 and 2012. Since 2016, there is no news of Shah Rukh Khan being detained in any country.
We spoke to Dainik Jagran’s Entertainment Correspondent Smita Srivastava about this. She also confirmed that no such incident has happened in the recent past.
At the end of the investigation, Vishvas News checked the Facebook profile of the user who made the video viral. Social scanning revealed that the Facebook page Wsm.Tv has 2,802 followers.
Conclusion: The viral claim turned out to be misleading in the investigation of Vishvas News. Actually, this video is from 2016. There is no news of Shahrukh Khan being detained at any US airport recently.
