Guwahati (Vishvas News) || A picture is going viral on social media where a man is laying on a hospital bed and the area of his private parts is covered in blood. Social media users shared this photo claiming to be from Koyakuchi in Barpeta district of Assam. Vishvas News checked the viral post and found the claim to be false. The photo is from Nigeria, and it is related to an incident that happened in 2016.
What is this viral post?
Facebook Page ”Assamese 24×7” had shared a post on 17th January, 2022 and worte –#Big_Breaking_News বৰপেটা জিলাৰ কয়াঁগুছিত জঘন্য ঘটনা!পত্নী চাজেদা বেগমে ঘৰৰ পিচফালে কাম কৰি থকাৰ সুযোগ লৈ মছজিদৰ পৰা নামাজ পঢ়ি ঘৰলৈ উভতি অহা স্বামীয়ে ৮ বছৰীয়া নিজ কন্যাৰ মুখত সোপা দি ধৰ্ষণ কৰিব খোজতে পত্নী চাজেদা বেগমে আহি চোকা কটাৰীৰে লিংগ চ্ছেদ কৰে স্বামী আব্দুল হুছেইন নামৰ শান্তিৰ ধৰ্ম লম্পটটোৰ!ইতিমধ্যে পত্নী চাজেদা বেগমে এই ঘটনা সংঘটিত কৰি আৰক্ষী থানত আত্মসমৰ্পণ কৰে! (Translation – Heinous incident in Kayakuchi in Barpeta district, Assam! The husband (Abdul Hussain) who returned home after praying from the Masjid tried to rape his 8-year-old daughter, then his Wife Sajida Begum came and cut off his penis with a sharp knife. Wife Sajeda Begum later surrendered at the police station.)
Similarly, many other Facebook users have also made it viral by sharing similar claims along with this photo.
Investigation
Vishvas News started investigating and first uploaded this photo to the Yandex tool. We found many reports on this viral photo. We found this viral photo in a news report published on the http://www.informationng.com/www.informationng.com website on 25 April 2016.
As mentioned in this report – : Man’s Manhood Chopped Off For Taking Another Wife. In further investigation, we also received the report that this photo was shared on different demands at various times. This is proof that this photo is in no way a do-it-all with Barpeta in Assam. You can see the report of this photo shared at different times by clicking here.
We also searched with keywords to find out if any such incident has happened in Assam. We did not find any news about any such incident anywhere.
Vishvas News contacted The Kayakuchi Police Station in this connection. The Police Officer-in-Charge said no such incident has been registered at Kayakuchi Police Station in recent days. At the end of the investigation, we scanned the facebook page “Assamese 24×7” that shared the fake post. We found that 639 people follow this page.
Conclusion: Vishvas News checked the viral post and found the claim to be false. The photo is from Nigeria, and it is related to an incident that happened there in 2016. No such incident has been reporter in Barpeta.
