New Delhi (Vishvas News). In a viral message on social media, it is being claimed that National Investigation Agency has issued a number for ‘filing complaints against any Muslim if seen raising the slogan of ‘Sar tan se juda’.’ Vishvas News had fact-checked this message earlier as well. It turned out to be fake. The message is being shared with the intention to disrupt communal harmony by spreading hatred and propaganda against Muslims. NIA has also denied this claim as fake.

What’s going viral

Facebook user Janjay Bhartiya posted a message on November 22 claiming, ‘translated: NIA has issued a special number… to report terrorist Muslims… who are seen chanting ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ in Facebook posts or comments, Or on twitter, or anywhere, directly take its screenshot, copy the link and call on this number…011-24368800, Email Id of NIA : info.nia@gov.in, mobile No. 9654447345, WhatsApp no. 8585931100, Landline no. 011-24368800, Fax no. 011-24368801 Every Hindu has to be alert for our India, for our Sanatan Dharma…’

Investigation

We started our investigation with Google open search. We found a five-month-old news report on the Bhaskar website. According to the news report, NIA issued a warning terming these messages as false. NIA had clarified that ‘no such communication has been issued. Such messages are completely fake and malicious and are part of a mischievous plan to mislead the public.’ Read the full news report here.

During the search, we found an old tweet from ANI. The 17 September 2021 tweet was about reporting any terror activity. However, it wasn’t the same as the viral message. This tweet had no numbers, and neither did it target any specific community or slogan.

We also scanned the website of NIA. Here we found the same email id, fax number, mobile number, etc, that is being used in the viral message.

We also found a press note on the website of the National Investigation Agency. In this, detailed information was given about the viral message. It was informed that “a fake message is viral in the name of NIA. Its purpose is to mislead people. Do not believe such messages.” The press note issued by NIA can be read here.

When Vishvas News contacted the NIA office, they informed us “no such message has been issued by the NIA. This is fake. Yes, the numbers given in it belong to the investigating agency. But the message is fake.”

Previous fact check done by Vishvas news on this can be read by clicking here.

At the end of the investigation, we scanned the profile of the user who posted the fake message. According to the information here, Facebook user Ravi Kushwaha is a resident of Damoh, Madhya Pradesh.

Conclusion: Vishvas News found in its investigation that the message viral in the name of NIA is fake.
