Kareena Kapoor Khan is not active on X. The viral post has been made from a fan page account created in her name.

New Delhi (Vishwas News): Some posts from an account on microblogging site X are being shared in the name of Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Khan. In these posts, there is a profile picture featuring Kareena Kapoor, and the username reads ‘kareena kapoor khan’. The content of these posts includes comments like, “First Siraj and now Shami. What is happening in the Indian cricket team?” The comments are accompanied by hashtag “Wicket Jihad”. Some social media users are sharing these posts, believing them to be from Kareena Kapoor, and soliciting opinions from other users. Simultaneously, some users are also sharing other posts from this X account.

Vishvas News in its investigation found that Kareena Kapoor Khan is not present on X (formerly Twitter). The viral post is from a fan page account created in her name, which social media users are sharing.

Claim:

X user Kareena Kapoor Khan @kareena_kpn (archive link) posted Mohammed Shami’s picture on September 22 and wrote, “First Siraj and now Shami. What is going on in the Indian cricket team? Wicket_Jihad”

Facebook user ‘Fardeen Khan‘ (archive link) shared this post and wrote, “Australians defeated in face of ‘soorma’ Shami, Mohammed Shami opened his claws…. Your opinion on this tweet of Kareena Kapoor….”

Facebook user ‘Bindas Haryana News‘ (archive link) shared screenshots of two other posts made by an X account in the name of Kareena Cooper Khan.

Investigation:

To investigate the viral claim, we first scanned the X account containing the viral post. There is a blue tick on this account made in the name of ‘kareena kapoor khan’. The bio of the account states that it is a fan page. This account, created in March 2022, is followed by more than 1,17,000 users.

This account got the blue tick in September 2023.

After this we searched about the real ex-account of Kareena Kapoor Khan, but failed to find one. Searching on Google with keywords, we found a news published in Amar Ujala on August 10, 2022. It read, “Before the release of Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s film ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’, there is a demand to boycott it on social media. Kareena Kapoor is angry with people regarding this. Kareena had told those who boycotted the film that she does not care whether people watch her film or not. Recently she has said that such things keep happening due to which actors are called one thing or the other, that is why she is not on Twitter.

In the report published in Times of India on August 10, 2022, it is also written that Kareena Kapoor Khan is active on Instagram, but not on Twitter.

Regarding this, Parag Chhapekar, senior entertainment journalist in Mumbai, says, “Kareena Kapoor is on Instagram, but not on X. This is a fake account created in his name.”

Similarly, Sonu Nigam’s picture was also posted from a parody account on X, which users thought were a post made from Sonu Nigam’s real account. Vishvas News’ fact check report can be read here.

Finally, we scanned the profile of the Facebook user who shared the screenshot of the post made by the fan page. The user living in Mumbai has around 38,000 followers.
