Recently, a video featuring Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan has gone viral, purporting that he endorsed Congress and Kamal Nath in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. Vishvas News conducted an investigation and found this claim to be false. It was uncovered that the viral video was edited by manipulating an advertisement video from Disney Plus Hotstar.
Facebook page INC posted a video on October 30 and wrote, “Bollywood actor Kartik Aryan extended his support to Congress and Kamal Nath ji in Madhya Pradesh assembly elections.” Considering the post to be true, other users are also making it viral.
Vishvas News initially checked Kartik Aaryan’s social media account to verify the authenticity of the viral video. The original video was found on his verified handle, X, posted on October 31. Contrary to claims, this video was not political, rather, it was an advertisement for Disney Plus Hotstar. Kartik explicitly mentioned it as a genuine advertisement, discrediting other versions as fake.
The original video is accessible on Kartik’s Instagram, posted on September 23, while it’s also available on Disney Plus Hotstar’s YouTube channel, uploaded on September 27, 2023. Both versions depict the advertisement for Disney Plus Hotstar.
Our investigation conclusively revealed that the viral video, endorsing Congress and Kamal Nath, was an altered version of the original Disney Plus Hotstar advertisement. Subsequently, Kartik Aaryan’s team was contacted, corroborating that the claim related to the viral video was indeed false.
Further investigation was conducted into the page responsible for disseminating the fake video. The Facebook page is operated from INC Jaipur. However, no additional substantial information was verified.
