New Delhi Vishvas News – Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently concluded his state visits to the United States and Egypt. During his landmark visit to the US, an edited video clip was being shared on social media with false claims about US President Joe Biden ignoring PM Modi. The prime minister was, in fact, hosted by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden at the White House.

Vishvas News found in its investigation that the video was from the Quad Summit held in Japan in 2022. In the original video, Joe Biden first shakes hands with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, then talks to PM Modi and shakes his hands. The viral video has been edited with the intention of spreading propaganda. In the viral clip only that part has been shown where Biden shakes hands with Australian PM Albanese.

Sharing the viral video on June 21, 2022, a Twitter user named SU Khan wrote in the caption, “Disgraceful welcome, should not have done this to the Prime Minister of the country.”

Investigation

In the backdrop of the video being shared virally, a poster of the Quad Summit could be seen, based on which we started searching on Google with related keywords. We found the full video shared on the YouTube account of news channel WION on May 24, 2022. According to the available information, the video is of the Quad Summit held in Japan. 18 seconds into the video, it can be seen that first Biden and Japan’s PM Fumio Kishida come and get photographed. They were followed by PM Albanese and PM Modi. Seeing them approach, Biden first shakes hands with Albanese and speaks to him. After this, he greets PM Modi. Following this meeting, the four leaders get photographed together.

We also found this video uploaded on several other YouTube channels. According to a report published by NDTV on May 24, 2022, US President Joe Biden praised PM Modi at the Quad Summit for successfully handling the Covid-19 situation in India. We have not found any report anywhere that Biden criticised or ignored PM Modi at the Quad Summit.

To learn about PM Modi’s US tour, we started digging into his official YouTube channel. We found a video uploaded recently where Biden can be seen welcoming and hugging PM Modi.

Vishvas News also spoke to BJP spokesperson Bizay Sonkar Shastri regarding the viral claim. He said, “Opposition parties keep circulating such edited videos on social media to tarnish the image of PM Modi. No such incident has happened.”

Earlier, during the G7 conference, a similar video of PM Modi went viral with the claim that he was ignored there. Vishvas News in its investigation found that the viral video was edited. Read the full report here.

Finally, we scanned the account of the user who shared the video with the false claim. 2,677 people follow the user. According to the information on the profile, the user is from Uttar Pradesh and has been active on Twitter since May 2014.
