Fact Check: ‘Chinese robots dancing at Disneyland’ are actually humans; claim is fake

New Delhi (Vishvas News): A video is going viral on social media where two dancers, a male and female, can be seen performing together. However, in many viral posts on social media, it is claimed that these two dancers are not humans but Chinese robots performing at Shanghai’s Disneyland.

Vishvas News found this claim to be false as both the dancers in the video are human dancers from Russia and not robots. They are performing ‘bachata’, a sensuous dance form with origins in the Dominican Republic.

Claim:

The viral video makes this false claim: “Would you believe it? These are not humans, but two Chinese robots looking exactly like real-life humans dancing with complete expressions. This is a 5 minutes show costing $75 per person at China’s Disneyland. The crowd outside is so huge that the people wait for about 4 hrs to get a ticket to enter.”

We also found a YouTube video link which took us to Bachata. Dima and Dilara page.

By doing a Google Open Search of their names, Vishvas News also came across this website, which identifies them as Dmitry and Dilara Davydov, one of the most popular and famous bachata couples in Russia and neighbouring countries that were once part of the USSR.

Their short description on the website reads: “Dmitry and Dilara have been teaching bachata in different formats for over 10 years, holding master classes all over the world. They stood at the origins of the formation of the modern bachata party in Russia, and are the engines of the bachata industry in the CIS.”

On being contacted on the Telegram app, their team responded, “Yes, this is Dima (short form for Dmitry) and Dilara. A couple from Russia.”
