New Delhi (Vishvas News). An old news clip of ABP news about Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has resurfaced and is going viral on social media, claiming that he has ended the alliance with BJP and the two TDP (Telugu Desam Party) ministers will resign from the center tomorrow. Many users are sharing it believing it to be true.

Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the claim is misleading. The news clip dates back to 2018 and does not reflect the current political situation. Chandrababu Naidu is still a part of the NDA alliance. The viral post is an attempt to misrepresent old news as recent.

What is going viral?

Facebook user Atul Rajput uploaded a news report on September 7, 2024, with the caption, “Is Chandrababu Naidu breaking the alliance?”

The report claims that Chandrababu Naidu has ended the alliance with the BJP.

Many other social media users have shared this video with similar claims. The archive link of the post can be viewed here.

Investigation

Vishwas News began the investigation by conducting a Google search using relevant keywords. If Chandrababu Naidu had recently decided to break ties with the NDA alliance, it would have made the news headlines. We found no recent news regarding any such decision.

Further investigation on YouTube revealed that the original news, uploaded on ABP News’ YouTube channel on March 7, 2018,  is being made viral by claiming it to be recent.

This six-year-old news stated, “Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP has left the BJP. Naidu will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi this morning and inform him about this. TDP ministers in the NDA government will also resign today.”

Vishvas New reached out to BJP’s IT and social media team member Sashi Kuma, who confirmed that the news of TDP’s separation from the central government is old and Chandrababu Naidu remains firmly associated with the NDA alliance.

We also reviewed the profile of the user who shared the misleading post and found that Facebook user Atul Rajput is a resident of Dhampur, Uttar Pradesh, and has more than 1000 followers

Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the viral post is misleading and TDP remains associated with the NDA alliance. Chandrababu Naidu did leave the NDA in 2018, but the current claim is based on old news being misrepresented as recent.
