New Delhi (Vishvas News) ||  A variety of posts are viral on social media with the claim that the Assamese language has been completely removed from the Assam Public Service Commission examinations. Vishvas news found the claim to be misleading. The truth is that the Assam government has decided that the question papers of the APSC examination will be set in the Assamese language too along with Assamese for the ease of candidates.

What is this viral post?

Twitter user Bhupen kumhttps://twitter.com/BhupenKBorahar Borah, posted this post and wrote, ““অসমতে আজি এলাগী হৈছে, সংকটত ভূগিছে “চিৰচেনেহী মোৰ ভাষা জননী”।অসম লোকসেৱা আয়োগৰ পৰা মুখ্যমন্ত্ৰীয়ে বাতিল কৰিছে মাতৃভাষা এই সিদ্ধান্ত কোনো কালেই গ্ৰহনযোগ্য হ’ব নোৱাৰে।।” English translation of the same is – “Assam is in a state of crisis today, “Chirochenehi mor bhaxa janani” (Assamese Phrase). The chief minister has canceled his mother tongue from the Assam Public Service Commission. This decision can never be admissible.” The user has used clippings of three newspapers with this post, which published a news item of the Congress party observing a sit-in in reaction to the Assamese issue being withdrawn in the Assam Public Service Commission.

Investigation

To start our investigation, Vishvas News checked this viral post carefully. The post says that the Chief Minister has canceled the Assamese Language from Assam Public Service Commission.

On searching with keywords, we found many news stories that said that Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma announced that from next year the question papers of APSC will be available in the Assamese language as well as English. As per APSC Combined Competitive Exam Rules, 1989, the Assam Public Service Commission examination question paper was available only in the English language. We contacted Lakhyajit Baruah of NK TV in this regard and shared the viral tweet. He said that this information is misleading. The chief minister has already mentioned that the candidates will be able to take the Assam Public Service Commission exam in the Assamese language from next year.

In the end, we scanned the profile of Twitter user Bhupen Kumar Bora. His viral post was retweeted by 39 people. This profile is followed by 19400 people.
