Fact Check: Aamir Khan did not give this statement about ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’

A statement is going viral on social media regarding the Bollywood film ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’, in which it is being claimed that “Aamir Khan has said that he will not stay in India if Lal Singh Chaddha movie flops”. Vishvas News in its investigation found that the viral claim is false. Aamir Khan has not given any such statement regarding the Bollywood film ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’.

What’s in the viral post

Facebook user ‘Mukesh Sharma Fans Club‘ (archive link) shared the viral post on August 13 and wrote, “Aamir Khan has said he will not stay in India if Laal Singh Chaddha movie flopped. Who wants Aamir soon? leave India?”

Several posts have a screenshot of the same text which is purportedly being shared as National Security Advisor Ajit Doval’s tweet.

Investigation

To investigate the viral post, we first searched it on Google with keywords. We couldn’t find any such statement from Aamir Khan in the recent past.

We spoke to Parag Chhapekar, Senior Entertainment Journalist in Mumbai about this. He confirmed by quoting Aamir Khan’s team that the viral claim is fake and Aamir Khan has not made any such statement.

Let us tell you that during an event in the year 2015, Aamir Khan expressed concern over the ‘growing intolerance in the country and said that “When I talk with Kiran at home, she says ‘should we go out of India’ ?” This statement later gained a lot of attention and to date, many people criticize him for this. At the same time, many political parties also supported him on this statement.

A screenshot of the same text is also quite viral on social media, which is being shared purportedly as National Security Advisor Ajit Doval’s tweet. We scanned the profile of Facebook user ‘Mukesh Sharma Fans Club’, who made the video viral with a misleading claim. This page has 51,276 followers on Facebook.

Conclusion: Vishvas News in its investigation found that the viral claim is false. Aamir Khan has not given any such statement regarding the Bollywood film ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’.
