Fact Check: Viral Claim Regarding Ownership Rights Of Meat Company Al Kabir Is FAKE And Propaganda Against RSS

New Delhi (Vishvas News): An infographic is going viral on social media platforms with claims that the largest cow slaughterhouse in Asia is named “Alkabir.” The claim suggests that the owners of this slaughterhouse are Hindus from Gujarat associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), aiming to portray Al Kabir as a purportedly “Hindu” company.

Upon investigation, Vishvas News has determined this claim to be false, highlighting its dissemination as an act of propaganda against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The company in question has countered these propaganda claims, identifying itself as a “Muslim” enterprise adhering to “Halal” practices under Sharia guidelines. As per the company’s information, Ghulamuddin M Shaikh is the sole owner, serving as the Chairman and Managing Director. The Hyderabad slaughterhouse is managed by Asif Ghulamuddin and Arshad Siddiqui, both holding whole-time director positions within the company. Exclusively, the Ghulamuddin family has all stakes in the company, with no involvement from other individuals or families.

This information is corroborated by records from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, which list Shabbir Aamir Shaikh as a whole-time director, alongside directors Asif Ghulamuddin Shaikh, Arshad Salar Siddiqui, Altaf Ghulamuddin Shaikh, and Kuldeep Singh Brar.

Our investigation commenced with a review of the Al Kabir Exports website, specifically focusing on the About Us section, where a disclaimer addressing the misinformation circulating on social media was discovered. The disclaimer explicitly states that Al Kabir Exports Private Limited, an Indian company engaged in mutton and beef exports, is a Muslim company. It emphasizes that the company does not slaughter cows, bulls, or calves but strictly adheres to slaughtering buffaloes in compliance with local laws and the export policy of the Government of India. The disclaimer also asserts that Al-Kabir Meat is 100% Halal, under strict Sharia guidelines.

To validate the ownership details provided by the company, we cross-referenced the information with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs website, as Al Kabir is not publicly listed on the stock exchange. The ministry’s records indicate that the company has five directors, with Shabbir Aamir Shaikh serving as the whole-time director, and Asif Ghulamuddin Shaikh, Arshad Salar Siddiqui, Altaf Ghulamuddin Shaikh, and Kuldeep Singh Brar as directors.

A 2007 report from ET reveals that the company initially began as a 50:50 partnership between the Sabarwal and Shaikh families. Typically, in private companies, the owners also assume directorial roles, a fact supported by the shareholding pattern.

Further verification was conducted through the official YouTube channel of ‘Al-Kabir Group ME,’ where a video provided information about ownership rights. According to the video, Ghulamuddin M Shaikh is the Chairman and Managing Director, and the Hyderabad Slaughterhouse is managed by Asif Ghulamuddin and Arshad Siddiqui, who hold full-time director positions. The video asserts that, apart from the Ghulamuddin family, no other family or individual has any shares in the company.

Returning to the claims made in the viral infographics, two assertions were examined. Firstly, the claim that cows are slaughtered at the Al Kabir slaughterhouse was debunked, clarifying that only buffaloes are processed in compliance with government policies. Secondly, the assertion that the slaughterhouse is owned by Hindus was refuted by information from Al-Kabir Group, affirming that the Ghulamuddin family, who are Muslims, is the sole owner of the company.

To further validate these findings, we reached out to Rajiv Tuli, the former state publicity head of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Tuli dismissed the claims made in the viral post, labelling them as baseless propaganda against Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, emphasising that the organisation is frequently targeted through unfounded allegations.

Vishvas News contacted Al-Kabir Group via email regarding the viral claim. This report will be updated when a reply comes from their side.

Conclusion: The claim regarding the ownership of Al Kabir (meat company) is unfounded and constitutes propaganda against RSS. According to information provided by the company, Ghulamuddin M Shaikh holds complete ownership as the Chairman and Managing Director. The Hyderabad slaughterhouse is managed by Asif Ghulamuddin and Arshad Siddiqui, both serving as whole-time directors. Solely, the Ghulamuddin family has all stakes in the company, with no involvement from other families or individuals.
