To verify the viral claim, we conducted a Google reverse image search using screengrabs from the video. We found that the full video had been shared multiple times on Facebook in 2021, with the claim that it was from Spain.
Taking a cue from this, we searched with keywords and found the same video on various YouTube channels in January 2021, with the same claim that it was from Spain.
By conducting a keyword search, we found that the location in the video is Paseo Nueva, San Sebastian, Spain. With a simple Google Images search, we found several images of San Sebastian that match the location in the viral video.
The viral post claims that the video is from Madhavpur, Gujarat. We used Google Maps to search the coastline of Madhavpur, but found no resemblance to the viral video. To confirm our findings, we reached out to Narendra Ahir, the Saurashtra reporter of Dainik Jagran. According to Ahir, “The video in question does not show Madhavpur. Madhavpur only has sandy beaches, and it has no structure resembling the one shown in the viral video.”
As for Cyclone Biparjoy, it is likely to make landfall near Jakhau port in Saurashtra and Kutch by the evening of June 15. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert. Detailed information regarding Cyclone Biparjoy can be read in this Jagran news article:
In the end, we scanned the profile of Facebook page ‘Update Pakistan’. Information on the page says it is run from Islamabad and has approximately 2,000 followers.
Conclusion: Vishvas News conducted an investigation and found the claim about Cyclone Biparjoy having hit Gujarat to be false. The video in question is from Spain, not India.
