New Delhi (Vishvas News): For the past few days, a trend of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech or some old videos going viral can be seen on social media. Apart from Facebook users, many of his old videos were also shared with full or fake claims by many pages. Also, many websites went live with the old video of his speech going viral. The following are some of the major errors with which these videos were shared:
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi suddenly announced a cut in petrol prices.”
“Narendra Modi suddenly made announcement to leave the country.”
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi suddenly announced good news for his people.”
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi suddenly announced that a house will be given to every citizen.”
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again announced nationwide lockdown” and “Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again announced demonetisation.” Some users are also claiming, “Narendra Modi suddenly announced that Salman Khan be arrested.”
Vishvas News, in its investigation, found all these claims to be fake and misleading, and the video going viral with all these claims is also old. The videos that are going viral with these claims are mainly – announcement of ‘Janata Curfew’ in 2020, the PM’s address to the nation before demonetisation, Modi announcing lockdown in 2020, and the President’s address in 2017. Videos of the PM’s election speeches, including his vote of thanks, are being shared with different fake claims.
Claim:

Other users are sharing videos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s previous and public addresses, claiming that he has suddenly announced a decrease in gasoline prices.
Investigation:
The claims mentioned above can be big news in themselves, but we did not find anything like this in our investigation, and the claims mentioned as PM Modi’s announcement are not such matters on which the Prime Minister needs to make an announcement.
In the video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech, which is going viral with most of the misleading and fake claims, he is seen addressing the people of the country and appealing to them to be cautious.
In the viral video, he can be heard saying, “…….Friends, I am seeking one more support from each and every countryman today. This is Janta-Curfew. Janata curfew means for the public, curfew imposed by the public on itself. This Sunday, i.e., on March 22, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., all the countrymen have to observe the Janta curfew.”
It becomes clear that this video is from 2020, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the imposition of a Janta curfew in the country before a complete lockdown was imposed across the country. We found the original video on the official YouTube channel of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is being shared by social media users with misleading and fake claims.
In a video uploaded on March 19, 2020, the Prime Minister, while addressing the people of the country, announced the imposition of ‘Janata Curfew’ across the country on March 22.
After the success of ‘Janata Curfew’ on March 22, on March 24, Prime Minister Modi, while addressing the nation, announced the imposition of complete lockdown across the country.
The video of his address is available on the official YouTube channel of ‘Narendra Modi’, which was made live on March 24, 2020. Some users are also sharing this video, saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again announced a lockdown in the country after the rise in cases of Corona infection.
Vishvas News has earlier verified the veracity of this video and the claim made with it, whose fact-check report can be read here.
Social media users are sharing another video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the claim that he has suddenly announced good news for his people. In the video going viral with this claim, Prime Minister Modi can be seen and heard speaking in the Lok Sabha. In our investigation, we found that the video is of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address to the Lok Sabha during the Winter Session of Parliament in 2017. The original video can be viewed here.
Vishvas News has also fact-checked this video and the various misleading claims made along with it, whose fact check report can be read here.
Another social media user ‘All over’ shared a video clip of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech with the claim that he suddenly announced a reduction in petrol prices. However, in the viral video, Prime Minister Modi can be heard addressing the people in Kannada language.
In a keyword search, we found this video on the official YouTube channel of Narendra Modi, which was uploaded four years ago. This video is about former Chief Minister of Karnataka Yediyurappa addressing a farmers’ rally in Davangere, Karnataka on his 75th birthday.
The same user ‘All over’ shared another video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi making the same claim.
We found that this video is also years old, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ‘Parivartan Rally’ on December 3, 2016, in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.
It was also an election rally, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed an election rally in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.
Conclusion: Videos of the PM’s election speeches, including his vote of thanks, are being shared with different fake claims.
