Fact Check: Woman Praising PM Modi In Viral Video Is Not CPI(M) Leader Subhashini Ali

New Delhi (Vishvas News): A video circulating on social media depicts a woman praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Claims assert that the woman is CPI(M) leader Subhashini Ali.

However, Vishvas News investigated the matter and found the claim to be misleading and the woman in the viral video is not Subhashini Ali.

What’s Going Viral?

On May 2, 2024, Facebook user Surender Udana shared a viral post featuring a woman saying – “Instead of Rahul Gandhi, the country should vote for Prime Minister Modi.” While sharing this post, he wrote in the caption, “What did senior CPM leader Subhashini Ali say about Rahul Gandhi and Modi?

Investigation

To verify the authenticity of the viral video, we reviewed it carefully. The woman seen in the video claims to be 65 years old. However, on investigating, we discovered that Subhashini Ali, born on December 29, 1947 in Kanpur, is 76 years old, not 65.

Subsequently, we decided to find this original video. In the viral video, a mic with 99 Khabar is visible in the interviewer’s hand. In our investigation, we found 99 Khabar’s YouTube channel. After a thorough review, we found the viral clip in one of his videos. Uploaded on December 1, 2023, the video was captioned, “Are women’s clothes taken off under Modi rule? A 65-year-old woman shuts up critics.” There was no mention of Subhashini Ali anywhere in the video.

Reviewing the other videos on this page, it is clear that they have the same format, in which they ask the passerby for their opinion on current topics.

Following this, we searched the news to ascertain whether Subhashini Ali made any such statement regarding Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi. Even after searching with keywords, we could not find any such statement from him.

We even searched for videos and photos of Subhashini Ali and discovered many of her videos, but her appearance, way of speaking, gait, and voice were all different from the woman seen in the viral video. The difference between the two can be seen in the collage below.

Regarding this, we spoke to 99 Khabar’s journalist Jaideep who confirmed that Subhashini Ali is not in the video.

Finally, after scanning the account of Facebook user Surender Udana, we found that the posts he shares are related to an ideology and is a resident of Haryana.

Conclusion: Vishvas News in its investigation found that the viral claim is fake. The woman in the viral video praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not CPI(M) leader Subhashini Ali.
