New Delhi (Vishvas News): The nomination process of candidates for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections has been completed; in this context, a video of Rahul Gandhi is going viral in which it is claimed that he has decided to resign from Congress. In the viral video clip, Rahul Gandhi can be seen and heard purportedly reading the resignation letter.

Vishvas News in its investigation found this video to be fake. The video going viral has been created with the help of AI cloning. The original video is of Rahul Gandhi’s nomination from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat, which has been edited and replaced with a fake audio clone of his voice.

What’s Going Viral?

Social media user ‘Amitabh Chaudhary’ has shared the viral video (archive link ), in which Rahul Gandhi is allegedly seen reading out his resignation. Many other users on different social media platforms have shared this video with many similar claims.

Vishvas News Investigation:

The viral video is a clip of about 30 seconds, in which Rahul Gandhi can be heard allegedly resigning from the Congress. After listening carefully to the viral video, it becomes clear that Rahul Gandhi’s audio does not match his visuals. This indicates that this video has been edited.

To find the original video, we did a reverse image search on its keyframes and in the search we found the original video clip (archive link ) on the official X handle of the news agency IANS, in which Rahul Gandhi is filing his nomination papers from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat. Can be seen.

According to the information given along with the video shared on April 3, 2024, it is related to the filing of the nomination of Rahul Gandhi from the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala. In the video, he can be heard taking oath on the Indian Constitution and the sovereignty and integrity of the country.

This is mentioned in many other news reports.

It is clear from our investigation that the clip going viral is edited and altered. To verify the video, we contacted Bengaluru-based startup contrails.ai, which provides AI tools for video and audio identification. In their investigation, they found that the audio used in the video is AI-generated, the analysis report of which can be seen here.

The userwho shared the viral video clip is followed by about 12 thousand people on X. According to the Election Commission’s notification (archive link), voting is to be held on a total of 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh under seven phases. Voting will be held on a total of eight seats under the first phase on April 19.
