Fact Check: Video of Madhya Pradesh’s MLA falsely shared as that of Assam Chief Minister

Vishvas News (New Delhi): A video is going viral on social media. In this, a man can be seen speaking about Muslims. Users are making this video viral claiming that the person shown in the video is the Chief Minister of Assam. Vishvas News investigated and found that the person in the video isn’t the Chief Minister of Assam, but Rameshwar Sharma, the MLA of Huzur Vidhan Sabha, Bhopal.

Claim

Uploading a video on September 14, the Facebook page Sultan-e-Haryana wrote: “The shortest speech of the Chief Minister of Assam in which he has said everything! Understand. This is new India!”

Investigation

Vishvas News used the InVID and Google reverse image search tool to find the truth behind the viral post. We found the original video on a YouTube channel named soft spoken. It was uploaded on August 21, 2021. It stated that BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma made a controversial statement. The full statement can be seen here.

We came to know from Google search that Rameshwar Sharma is the MLA of Madhya Pradesh. We also found that Rameshwar Sharma reached the assembly after getting elected from the Huzur assembly constituency of Bhopal, the capital of MP. At present, Rameshwar Sharma holds the responsibility as the pro tem speaker.

Vishvas News contacted Dhananjay Pratap Singh, Bureau Chief of Naiduniya, Madhya Pradesh. He confirmed that the video going viral is of Bhopal MLA Rameshwar Sharma.

The page Sultan-e-Haryana, which shared the viral video with a misleading claim, is followed by 1100 people.

Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found that the person in the video isn’t the Chief Minister of Assam, but Rameshwar Sharma, the MLA of Huzur Vidhan Sabha, Bhopal.
