Fact Check: Video from Pakistan is being spread as a reaction in India to Nupur Sharma’s statement.

New Delhi (Vishvas News). After Nupur Sharma’s controversial statement, a video is going viral on social media in which a huge crowd can be seen. By sharing this, users are claiming that this crowd has come out on the road against Nupur Sharma’s statement. Vishvas News in its investigation found that the viral claim is false. The video is from Lahore, Pakistan, and is of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi’s Chehlum after his death. This event was held on 03 January 2021.

What’s in the viral post

Facebook user Kamal Shaikh (archive link) posted the video on June 6, and wrote, “Today for the sake of your “Prophet Muhammad”, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Oman, Bahrain, Afghanistan, all have come together.. and the only reason to be mutahid is “La ilaha illallahu muhammadur rasulullah”..#OurProphetOurHonour”

Investigation

To check the viral video, we searched the keyframes of this video on Google reverse image. We found this video uploaded on YouTube channel named Labbaik News on January 4, 2021. The location in the video was mentioned as Lahore. The description with the video read “Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi Chehlum | TLP Chehlum 2021” Khadim Hussain Rizvi.

On searching, we found that on 19 November 2021, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief, Khadim Hussain Rizvi passed away at the age of 54. The ritual to complete 40 days of his death, Chehlum was held on 03 January 2021 near Masjid Rahmatul Lil Alameen on Multan Road in Lahore. The scene seen in the viral video is of this Chehlam.

We found many more videos of Khadim Hussain Rizvi’s Chehlum on YouTube. In these videos, the site of the viral video can be seen from other angles.

In this regard, we contacted the reporter of Pakistani news channel News 24 HD, Mohammad Kamran. He confirmed that “the video is from 2021 and is from Pakistan.”

After the controversial statement of Nupur Sharma, there have been demonstrations in many places in India. But the viral video is not of any such demonstration.

We scanned the profile of Facebook user Shaikh Yasar, who made the video viral with a misleading claim. The user has 35,867 followers on Facebook.

Conclusion: Vishvas News in its investigation found that the viral claim is false. The video is from Lahore, Pakistan, and is of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi’s Chehlum, after his death, which was held on 03 January 2021.
