New Delhi (Vishvas News). A viral letter purportedly from BJP’s letterhead is circulating on social media, falsely claiming that Prashant Kishor has been appointed as the National Chief Spokesperson of the party.

Vishvas News investigated and found this claim to be false. Both Prashant Kishor and BJP National Coordinator Arun Singh confirmed that the letter is fake.

What is going viral?

On May 22, 2024, Instagram user jharkhand.mukti.morcha.fan shared the viral letter with the caption, “PK तो बीजेपी का Team निकला, इसलिए तो मोदी जी को जीता रहा था!!!” Translation: PK turned out to be BJP’s team, that’s why Modi ji was winning!!!”

The viral letter states, “Organisational Appointment. BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda has appointed Shri Prashant Kishore, as the National Chief Spokesperson of BJP. Investigation

To verify the authenticity of the viral letter, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords but couldn’t find any news of Prashant Kishor joining the BJP.

We also checked the social media handles of BJP and Prashant Kishor but no related information was found.

Given that the letter is allegedly signed by BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh, we reached out to him to verify the authenticity of the viral claimand he stated, “The viral letter is edited, and this post is completely baseless.”

Additionally, we reached out to Prashant Kishor, who confirmed the post was fake. He also shared a tweet by Jan Suraaj with us, which included a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat purportedly showing Congress leader Jairam Ramesh sending the letter in question to someone. The tweet alleges Congress of spreading misinformation with the fake letter.

(Vishvas News does not independently verify the accuracy of the WhatsApp chat screenshot.)

In an interview with NDTV on May 21, 2024, Prashant Kishor predicted BJP’s victory. It’s worth noting that Prashant Kishor worked with the BJP during the 2014 elections.

We also reviewed the social media account jharkhand.mukti.morcha.fan of the user who shared the false claim and discovered that it has only 100 followers.
