Amidst this, a video from KBC is circulating on social media with claims that it featured questions about the farmer loan waiver scheme from the previous Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh.
Upon investigation, Vishvas News determined that the viral video had been edited and manipulated. In reality, no questions related to the farmer loan waiver scheme of the Kamal Nath government were posed on KBC. The video had altered a question about Karnataka and Gujarat. Sony TV has officially refuted these claims through its social media handle.
While sharing the viral video on November 11, 2023, Facebook user ‘Sukhdev Panse Fans Multai’ wrote in the caption, “Farmer loan waiver scheme of former Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh. Kamal Nath government echoed the issue of farmer loan waiver in KBC, Amitabh said that after Shivraj came to the government, the farmer loan waiver scheme has been stopped.”
To verify the authenticity of the viral claim, we initiated a Google search using relevant keywords. However, no news reports supporting the claim were found. Taking our investigation further, we searched the official YouTube channel of Sony Entertainment Television India (SET India). The original video, uploaded on November 6, 2023, was found.
The segment in question occurs between 30 seconds and 2.57 minutes, where Amitabh Bachchan displays a map highlighting Karnataka and Gujarat. Subsequently, a question is posed about these states, with four options given to the player. After the player selects the second option, confirming its correctness, Amitabh elaborates on some aspects related to both states.
Further scrutiny of Sony TV’s official X account revealed a post dated November 9, 2023, where Sony TV explicitly denies the viral claim. Additionally, it was mentioned that cybercrime authorities have been informed, and appropriate action is being taken.
To gain insights into the viral video, we consulted Parag Chhapekar, a senior entertainment journalist in Mumbai. According to him, “This video has been edited, and the question has been altered. No such question was asked. Similar claims about KBC have circulated in the past.”
Finally, we examined the profile of the user who shared the viral video with false claims. The user appears to share posts aligned with a particular ideology and boasts a following of 2,200 people with 2,000 likes on their page.
