Vishvas News’ investigation concludes that the viral post concerning PM Modi and CM Yogi is false. CM Yogi’s gesture of going from behind, instead of in front of PM Modi, was out of respect. PM Modi simply signaled for him to pass from the front. This part of the video has been edited and shared with false claims.
New Delhi (Vishvas News): Ahead of the Lok Sabha election, a video from a rally has surfaced, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi pushed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath when the latter tried to sit on a chair. This video, accompanied by similar claims, has been widely circulated.
Vishvas News examined the viral video and found the claims to be completely unfounded. The video in question is from an election rally in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. During the rally on March 9, rather than walking up to the stage in front of PM Modi, CM Yogi was attempting to leave from behind after removing his chair. PM Modi gestured for him to leave from the front, but some individuals on social media are spreading misinformation by sharing this video with false claims.
Facebook user Manoj Yadav posted a video on April 9, alleging, “This insult to Baba is the height of misbehaviour, this insult to Baba will not last. Hindustan Boycott Modi, Uttar Pradesh.” The post further claimed, “On the stage of the public meeting in Pilibhit, Modi ji very angrily, rudely and absurdly pulled out a chair and sat down. While trying to hold Yogi ji’s hand, he pushed him away. It is highly condemnable and shameful, we strongly condemn it.”
Vishvas News carefully analysed the viral video, identifying the News 24 news channel’s logo. This led to the discovery of the original video on the channel’s YouTube account, uploaded on April 9. The video clarified that PM Modi had simply gestured for CM Yogi to leave from the front instead of from behind.
Further investigation involved searching the e-paper of Dainik Jagran, Pilibhit, which reported on the viral video. The news stated, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s humility and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s decency won the hearts of the people.” It described the incident where PM Modi gestured for CM Yogi to pass in front of the chairs towards the podium, which was met with applause.
A longer version of the video was found on the BJP’s YouTube channel, uploaded on April 9. Around 3:30 minutes into the video, CM Yogi is seen attempting to move towards the dais by removing his chair from behind. PM Modi then signals for him to leave from the front.
Vishvas News also reached out to CM Yogi’s media advisor Mrityunjay Kumar, who confirmed that the claims made with the viral video are completely false.
Social scanning of the user who posted the fake claims revealed that Facebook user Manoj Yadav is associated with a political party and created the account in March 2013.
Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation concludes that the viral post concerning PM Modi and CM Yogi is false. CM Yogi’s gesture of going from behind, instead of in front of PM Modi, was out of respect. PM Modi simply signaled for him to pass from the front. This part of the video has been edited and shared with false claims.
