Fact Check: Pictures of a bear attack in Andhra Pradesh being shared as tiger attack in Jharkhand

New Delhi (Vishvas News). Some pictures are going viral on social media where some badly injured people can be seen. There are also pictures of some tigers as well. It is being claimed with the post that these are pictures of a tiger attack in Jharkhand. The viral claim turned out to be false in the investigation of Vishvas News. The pictures have nothing to do with Jharkhand, the viral photos are of a bear attack in Andhra Pradesh.

What’s in the viral post?

Sharing these viral pictures, a Facebook user named Reporter Bablu Raj wrote, “Tiger attack in Dubrajpur village of Palojori block”.

Investigation

To know the truth of the viral pictures, Vishvas News searched these photos through Google reverse image. We found the viral photos in an article on andhrajyothy.com. According to the news “Vajrapukotturu, June 20: A bear created havoc in Vajrapukotturu. It is learned that Kadmati Kodanda Rao (72) of Kidisingi village died in a bear attack on Sunday. The bear also attacked farmers working on a cashew farm in Vajrapukkottur on Monday and seriously injured six people. The condition of four of them is critical.” According to the news, the incident is from Andhra Pradesh and the attack was not done by a tiger, but by a bear.

We found news about this incident on some other websites as well.

We searched with the help of keywords whether any such incident has happened in Jharkhand. We could not find any such information anywhere.

We talked to Dainik Jagran’s Ranchi correspondent Ashish Jha about this. He confirmed that this incident is not from Jharkhand. In fact no such attack has been reported in Jharkhand recently.

Vishvas News, in the last phase of the investigation, conducted a background check on the profile that shared the viral post. We found that user ‘reporter Bablu Raj’ is a resident of Jharkhand.
