New Delhi (Vishvas News): In the wake of Haryana communal violence, which took place on July 31, attempts are being made to propagate rumours through the widespread circulation of various videos and pictures. Presently, a video featuring Bittu Bajrangi, who has been accused of fueling the violence in Nuh, is gaining traction on social media. In this 45-second video, Bittu Bajrangi can be seen shedding tears while discussing the rally and uttering the words, “Arrest me. Shoot me, don’t hesitate.” Certain individuals on social media are sharing this video, falsely claiming that it predates the police intervention subsequent to the Nuh violence.
Upon conducting an investigation, Vishvas News discovered that this particular video of Bittu Bajrangi dates back to April 2022, whereas the violence in Nuh transpired on July 31. This implies that the viral video was captured prior to the violence, rather than after it. The video is being disseminated with a misleading claim.
Claim:
A verified Twitter user with a blue checkmark named ‘Wasimuddin Siddiqui’ (archive link) shared the video on August 3, accompanied by the statement: “This Bittu Bajrangi Bhaijaan is an associate of Monu Manesar, seen here crying and making an appeal before being apprehended by the police!!”
In the video, Bittu can be heard saying, “Who attended the rally? I will protect my comrades. I won’t implicate my comrades or reveal any names. If you’re brave enough, detain him, shoot him, don’t spare him.” A Facebook user named Bablu Khan (archive link) also shared the same video on August 3, along with a similar assertion.
It can also be found on YouTube with identical claims.
Vishvas News Investigation:
To validate the viral claim, we conducted a Google search using keywords related to Bittu Bajrangi. An article published on Aaj Tak‘s website on August 4 states, “Violence erupted on July 31 in Nuh, Haryana. In connection with this incident, Bittu Bajrangi, a Bajrang Dal worker, is accused of instigating violence. Indeed, Bittu had shared a video clip prior to joining the procession, in which he was seen wearing saffron attire and engaging in objectionable behavior. A complaint was filed with the Dabua Faridabad police, accusing Bittu of inciting violence in relation to this matter. The police have registered a case.”
Subsequently, when searching for the viral video using relevant keywords, we found a related video on Facebook. A user named ‘Gurcharan Singh Dora-BJP Official‘ uploaded an extended version of the viral clip (archive link) on April 16, 2022, and captioned it: “Bittu Bajrangi, a Hindu leader from Faridabad, in tears, expressing the troubles he has faced since the rally was held. Well, it’s India, not Pakistan, not Bangladesh.”
In this video, he conveys that he has not been able to find peace since the rally took place. The viral clip appears around the 13-minute mark. This confirms that the video is not recent. On August 6 (archive link), a Facebook user named ‘Haryana Ab Tak’ also shared the viral video with the same claim stating that it was originally posted on his page on April 13, 2022.
A video uploaded on the Faridabad News YouTube channel on April 13, 2022, indicates that Bittu Bajrangi’s tearful video is gaining traction. He led a rally on April 10 during Ram Navami, which attracted a significant number of participants. The video is titled, “Bittu Bajrangi’s Emotional Moment: After the Saffron Rally, Police Troubles Ensue.”
For further verification, we reached out to Bittu Bajrangi and shared the viral video with him. He confirmed, “This video dates back to April 2022. I conduct rallies annually. Following one such rally, I faced harassment, leading to the posting of this video. I was subsequently arrested by the police in connection with the Nuh case. Presently, I am out on bail.”
Furthermore, we engaged in a conversation with Dharmendra Pratap, the operator of Faridabad News. He affirmed, “This video is nearly a year old. Bittu led a rally during which some individuals brandished swords. Consequently, he underwent police interrogation, prompting him to share the video.”
Upon concluding the investigation, we scrutinised the profile of the user who shared the viral video. This user has been active on Twitter since October 2017 and boasts over 140,000 followers.
Conclusion: The tearful video featuring Bittu Bajrangi, accused of inciting violence in Nuh, is over a year old. It holds no connection to the Nuh violence incident.
