The viral post claims that Sanjay Singh of the Aam Aadmi Party has been given a ticket by the Samajwadi Party from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh. Vishvas News investigated the viral post, debunking its authenticity. The Samajwadi Party itself has refuted these claims, denouncing them as false.
Facebook user Sandeep Gupta posted a list on April 2 and wrote, “My choice.” Samajwadi Party’s election symbol was used in the list. It was written that there would be united voting in the name of PDA this time. Lok Sabha Elections 2024-SP Candidate. In this list, it was mentioned that Aam Aadmi Party’s Sanjay Singh would be made the candidate from Jaunpur.
Vishvas News initially utilized the Google Open Search tool to verify the authenticity of the viral post. Several news reports about the list were found on various websites. A report published on the ABP News website on April 3 categorically declared the viral list as fake.
Similarly, on April 3 itself, OneIndia.com also debunked the list as fake, with the Samajwadi Party (SP) labelling it as misleading. SP clarified that no such list had been issued by the party and urged people not to place trust in such lists.
Continuing the investigation, Vishvas News scrutinized SP’s official social media channels, finding no mention of the viral list. Further advancing the inquiry, Vishvas News reached out to SP’s national spokesperson, Manoj Rai Dhupchandi, and shared the viral list with him. Dhupchandi affirmed that the list was fake and confirmed that SP had not released any such list.
Concluding the investigation, the user who propagated the fake list under the guise of SP was scrutinized. The account purportedly belonging to Sandeep Gupta was discovered to be fake.
