Fact Check: Edited Video Allegedly Showing Rahul Gandhi Supporting BJP Goes Viral
Vishvas News fact-checked the viral post and found this video to be edited. In the original clip, Rahul Gandhi accused BJP and RSS of trying to destroy democracy while supporting Congress and the INDIA alliance.

New Delhi (Vishvas News): A video of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is circulating on social media, showing him praising the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi while criticising Congress and I.N.D.I.A alliance.
Vishvas News investigated the viral clip and found that the video had been tampered with. In the original clip, Rahul Gandhi supported the Congress Party and the INDIA alliance while opposing the BJP and PM Modi.
What’s Going Viral?
The viral Facebook post was shared on May 20, 2024, by a public group named ‘Akhand Bharat’, featuring Rahul Gandhi saying, “Hello, I am Rahul Gandhi. This election is to save democracy and the Constitution. On one side is the Congress Party and INDIA Alliance who are trying to end democracy and destroy the Constitution. And on the other side are BJP and RSS who are saving the constitution and democracy. While the Congress party has made 22-25 people billionaires, Modi ji is going to make crores of women and youth lakhpatis. Support BJP and RSS, save the Constitution. Press the button for Narendra Modi ji.”
The caption of this post reads, “Very important and last appeal message from Rahul Gandhi.”

Investigation
To investigate the post, we searched the screenshot of this clip using Google Reverse Image. We found the original viral clip in a tweet by Rahul Gandhi from April 25. In this one-minute seven-second video, he said, “Hello, I am Rahul Gandhi. This election is to save our democracy and our constitution. On one hand, we have BJP and RSS who are trying to end democracy and destroy the Constitution and on the other hand, there is the Congress party and INDIA alliance who are trying to save the Constitution and democracy. We walked 4000 kilometres from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and from Manipur to Maharashtra. We talked to you and listened to what was in your heart, and made a revolutionary manifesto. Though the Congress party had made this manifesto, but the voice is yours. We have given five guarantees. We are going to make crores of women and youth lakhpatis, while Narendra Modi ji has made 22-25 people billionaires. We are giving legal guarantees to our dear farmers. We are waiving their loans. We are providing minimum wages of Rupees 400 to labourers. This is a manifesto to change the country. This is a revolutionary manifesto. Support the Congress party. Save the Constitution, press the hand button.”

Vishvas News contacted Girish Kumar from the Congress’s social media team. He confirmed that the viral clip was edited and shared the original clip from Rahul Gandhi’s Instagram account, dated April 25, 2024, with us.
Concluding our investigation, we scanned the Facebook group ‘Akhand Bharat’, which shared the edited video and found that it has more than 60,000 members.
