Subsequently, some individuals have been circulating an image on social media that alleges Rahul Gandhi was seen wearing a red shirt with the number “420” on his badge.
In the course of its investigation, Vishvas News discovered that the viral picture had been manipulated, and the claim associated with it was false. In reality, when Rahul Gandhi was wearing the porter’s uniform, his badge displayed the number 756. The image has been tampered with and distributed using editing tools.

Facebook user ‘Vinod Tiwari‘ (archive link), while sharing the viral picture on September 24, wrote, “The number is perfect, the guy is wearing coolie number 420.”
X user ‘Narendra Modi Fan (arhive link)’ has also shared a similar picture on September 25.
Investigation:
We conducted a keyword-based investigation to scrutinise the viral claim. During an open search on Google, we discovered relevant news coverage on Dainik Jagran’s YouTube channel. In a video news report uploaded on September 21, it was reported that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had visited Anand Vihar railway station, engaged with porters, and inquired about their concerns. The video’s title reads, “Rahul Gandhi became Coolie No 756, picked up luggage of passengers at Anand Vihar Railway Station.”
Furthermore, news regarding this meeting was also published on Aaj Tak‘s website on September 21. The article includes pictures of Rahul Gandhi during his visit. According to the report, Rahul Gandhi interacted with porters at Anand Vihar railway station in Delhi. During this interaction, he was seen wearing a porter’s uniform and carrying a suitcase. A porter also affixed a badge to Rahul Gandhi’s attire, bearing the number 756, signifying that Rahul Gandhi had taken on the role of porter number 756.
Images from this event can also be viewed on Rahul Gandhi’s Instagram account, where they were posted on September 21. Among these images, one particular picture is being enlarged and edited before being shared.
In the short videos uploaded on Rahul Gandhi’s official YouTube channel, the badge number 756 is prominently displayed.
Upon closer examination of the viral image and the original photograph, it becomes evident that the number 420 is separately added in the shared photo.
Regarding this matter, UP Congress spokesperson Abhimanyu Tyagi asserted, “Rahul Gandhi was assigned badge number 756. The viral picture has been manipulated. He visited the porters to understand their issues.”
Finally, we conducted a profile analysis of the Facebook user who shared the edited photo. This user resides in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, and has amassed more than 5,000 followers. The user appears to be influenced by a particular ideology.
