Fact Check: Digvijay Singh Didn’t Resign From Congress, Fake Letter Going Viral

In the investigation, we found that the letter stating that former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh has resigned from Congress is fake.

New Delhi Vishvas News –The BJP and Congress have both unveiled their lists of candidates for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. However, amid this announcement, a letter purportedly from the former Chief Minister of the state and senior Congress leader, Digvijay Singh, has been circulating widely. This letter, when shared, is accompanied by claims that he has resigned from the primary membership of Congress. Vishvas News conducted an investigation into this viral letter, revealing it to be a fraudulent document. As a result, an FIR has been filed against unidentified individuals in connection with this matter.

Facebook user Vinay Puri posted a letter on October 16 claiming, “Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh has resigned from the party.” Many other users on different social media platforms have shared this video with similar and similar claims. Investigation:

To investigate the viral fake letter of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh quitting Congress, we first took the help of Google Open Search Tool, because if such a big leader resigns then it is big news. During the search, two pieces of news were found on Naiduniya.com. A piece of news published on October 15 stated, “The fake resignation letter of former Chief Minister of the state Digvijay Singh giving up the primary membership of Congress started to circulate widely on the internet on Sunday. Taking strong objection to this, Digvijay Singh has lodged a complaint with the police for action under cyber crime. Congress has held BJP responsible for this”.

It was reported in the news published on October 16 that an FIR has been registered in Bhopal in connection with the viral letter in the name of Digvijay Singh. The FIR has been registered by the Crime Branch.

Taking the investigation forward, we scanned the X handle of Digvijay Singh. On October 16, Digvijay Singh posted, “BJP is expert in lying. I took membership of Congress in 1971. I joined Congress not for the post, but influenced by ideology and will remain in Congress till the last breath of my life. I am filing a police complaint against this lie.”

During the search, we found a video uploaded on ANI’s MP handle on October 16. In this, a briefing by ACP Sujit Tiwari of Bhopal cyber crime was found. In the video, he can be heard saying that he has received a complaint. It has been said that to tarnish the image of Rajya Sabha MP Digvijay Singh, his fake resignation letter is being made viral. A case has been registered regarding this. A statement from Digvijay Singh was received on ANI’s X handle on October 15. In the video, he can be seen giving a statement on the fake letter.

Talking to Vishvas News, Girish Kumar of Congress’s social media cell said that the viral letter of Congress Rajya Sabha MP Digvijay Singh is completely fake. In this, the surname of the national president of the party is written wrongly. The surname of the national president is Kharge, not Khadge.

Taking the investigation forward, Vishvas News contacted Naidunia’s Madhya Pradesh State Bureau Chief Dhananjay Pratap Singh, and shared the viral post with him. He said that this letter was fake. An FIR has also been registered in Bhopal regarding this.

At the end of the investigation, we scrutinised the Facebook handle of the user who shared the fake post. Facebook user Vinay Puri resides in Patna and has over 7,000 followers.

Conclusion: In the investigation, we found that the letter stating that former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh has resigned from Congress is fake.
