New Delhi (Vishvas News). Amidst the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2024, a video purportedly from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public rally is going viral. Social media users sharing the viral video are claiming it to be from the PM’s recent rally in Jalore district of Rajasthan. A substantial crowd can be seen in the video.
Vishvas News investigated the viral post and found it to be misleading. The viral video has been available on the internet since 2019 under the title of Congress Rally.
The Facebook page ‘Akhand Bharat’ (archive) shared a video on April 21, 2024, claiming that people gathered at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Bhinmal (see archived post here). Believing it to be true, other users are also sharing the post.
To verify the viral video, Vishvas News initially extracted several keyframes from it and searched them through Google Lens. The original video was found on a YouTube channel named SVG CSO, uploaded on April 26, 2019 and dated April 25, 2019. The description indicated that the video is of a Congress meeting in Ramseen, Jalore.
During the investigation, this video was also found on Facebook. Uploading it on April 25, 2019, Facebook user ML Bishnoi Chadi wrote, “This video is not from anywhere else, in Ramseen of Jalore district in our Rajasthan, Rahul Gandhi and Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot gathered at the public meeting of Jalore Lok Sabha Congress candidate. There is a crowd of people.”
Taking the investigation forward, Vishvas News contacted Narendra Sharma, senior correspondent of Dainik Jagran, Rajasthan and shared the viral video with him. He also confirmed that the viral video is not from this election.
