Fact Check: Fake Message On Kidney Donation Viral; Falsely Attributed To WHO

The viral post attributed to World Health Organization (WHO) asking people to donate kidneys is fake. It is falsely attributed to WHO.

A viral post on social media attributed to World Health Organization (WHO) appeals people to donate kidneys and states that the donor gets 7 crores for it. The message also has a contact number, a Whatsapp number, an email id, and a website URL. Vishvas News investigated and found that it is fake. World Health Organization has not issued any such notification. One should not fall for this message.

Claim

A message circulated on the internet reads: “A MUST READ !!! Kidney donors are needed from all blood groups by the World Health Organization (WHO), each donor gets Rs 70,000,000.” The message also has a contact number +919047292804, a Whatsapp number +919047292804, an email id craigparrishkidneyfoundation@yahoo.com, and a website url https://buyandsellkidneyfoundation.wordpress.com. The image also has a logo of World Health Organization (WHO) on its top left corner.

Investigation

Vishvas News started its investigation by searching the viral message on the official website and social media handles of World Health Organization (WHO). Nowhere on the official website of social media accounts on World Health Organization (WHO) was this message shared.

As per the spokesperson of WHO, India, the viral message is fake. She quoted by saying: “Please spread the word that this is FAKE!”

We trying to contact the numbers given in the viral post. The number is temporarily out of service and even the Whatsapp number is not working.

We also sent a mail to the given email ID but did not receive any response.

We visited the website https://buyandsellkidneyfoundation.wordpress.com as given in the viral post. The website displayed the message: This site has been archived or suspended for a violation of our Terms and Condition.

Conclusion: The viral post attributed to World Health Organization (WHO) asking people to donate kidneys is fake. It is falsely attributed to WHO.
